Accommodation

The venue for the conference, the Art and Design Academy at Liverpool John Moores University, is located near the centre of the city and we ask delegates to book their own accommodation in Liverpool (click on image to enlarge).

The conference is working with the Liverpool Convention Bureau to manage accommodation bookings and a special allocation of accommodation has been secured with a variety of accommodation providers at a negotiated rate. Please visit:

The conference itself will open at 12pm on Wednesday 6 July, with the first papers beginning at 2pm that day. The conference will end at 6pm on Friday 8 July 2011. You will be able to safely store luggage at the Art and Design building on Friday.

Travelling by Train

The nearest train station is Liverpool Lime Street:

Walking from Liverpool Lime Street Train Station (approx. 10 minutes up a moderate hill)

Go out of the main train station exit in front of the platforms. You should see a giant digital screen and St. George's Hall in front of you. Turn left onto Lime Street, walk past the Adelphi Hotel and then turn left up Brownlow Hill. Head up the hill for about 5 minutes. You will find the Liverpool Art and Design Academy Duckinfield Street, on your right hand side.  On entering the building the reception area is directly ahead of you.


Travelling By Air

International visitors have the option of using either Liverpool John Lennon Airport or Manchester International Airport.

Nearest Airport: Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Speke (25 mins: taxi - approx cost £15, or bus - £3)

If travelling to Manchester Airport there is a direct train link to Liverpool Lime Street station which takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. Please check details here: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

If you are planning to fly to London, there is a direct train from London Euston rail station to Liverpool which takes 2 hours and 10 minutes. You can book cheap advance tickets on this service here: http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/

 

Travelling by Car

Metropolitan Cathedral Car Park

At the end of the M62, take either of the middle lanes and follow the A5080 (Edge Lane) sign-posted City Centre.  Continue along Edge Lane, which becomes the A5047, passing Edge Lane Retail Park, and then the MacDonald’s restaurant on the left hand side.  Approximately two miles from leaving the M62 you will reach a set of traffic at the junction of Marmaduke Street, carry on over the lights staying in the left hand lane. At the next set of lights turn left into Tower Street, following the sign for JMU University Mount Pleasant and the Cathedrals. Bear right into Irvine Street, staying in the left hand lane passing St Mary’s church Edge Hill, take the next right at the lights.  You will pass Archbishop Blanch School on the left-hand side, follow the road around bearing right and take the next turning on your left into Crown Street. At the next set of lights take a right into Oxford Street.  Carry on down Oxford Street passing through 2 sets of Pedestrian sets of lights, at the next main junction take a right into Mount Pleasant, the car park entrance is approx. 50m on your left hand side. Please follow signs inside the car park to the venue.

Please exit at the Brownlow Hill entrance and proceed up the hill, cross over the lights you will find the ADA apprx. 100m on your right hand side.
